The final note
The organisers of the Chuysky Trakt 2025 decided to disqualify a few participants who arrived late at the Aktash control at 449 km. This decision was dictated by the following considerations.
This year the route of the ride included a part from Aktash to Ulagan and back. The road passed through sparsely populated areas, the Ulagan control had no volunteer support. The participants had to cross twice the Ulagan mountain pass, the steepest and the highest on the entire route, with wooden bridges (dangerous for road bicycles) and blind turns. Participants who completed this stage mentioned that it was one of the most difficult ones on the route.
Several participants arrived late to Aktash, when the control was closed already. There is no consensus on how to act in such a case, whether to stamp the participant's route sheet or to refuse that. The rules let the organisers decide on their own. The Aktash control closed in the evening, so the latecomers would have to go to the following difficult stage in the night, and the weather forecast for the next morning was unfavorable. Given these circumstances, the organisers decided to refuse stamping the route sheets, guided by the safety considerations.
